WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new radio spot now airing in the district of U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt points out that the Republican leader has questioned the worthiness of Medicare and taken more than $500,000 in contributions from the insurance industry during his congressional career.
The 60-second ad, sponsored by USAction and its Missouri affiliate, Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition, is in heavy rotation on four Springfield, Missouri radio stations: KGBX-FM, KSGF-FM, KTTS-FM and KTXR-FM.
“Why would Roy Blunt attack a program that has helped so many seniors?” a female voiceover asks. “Well, I figured I had my answer when I read that Roy Blunt gets hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the insurance industry – you can’t tell me that doesn’t influence him.”
The ad continues, “Now Roy Blunt is opposing health care reform that would lower costs for millions of Americans – all because the health insurance companies oppose it. It seems to me Roy Blunt just doesn’t get it.”
The ad is the second placed on the air this month by USAction and Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition. The first ad – which Blunt unsuccessfully tried to have taken off the air – pointed out Blunt’s contributions from the insurance industry.
